Sam Smith works at Pensacola State College as the Assistant Director of Workday Solutions. She was hired 2021 as the Change Management Coordinator to help students navigate the changes with a new system, Workday, used for everything from applying to graduating.
She creates, maintains, and runs student engagements from all departments at the College in Workday. She is Workday Student Pro certified and plays a vital role in orchestrating the testing of Workday's biannual updates and communicating the changes to her peers and students. She's a little tech-savvy and a dash or two creative. She is a problem-solving, configuring communicator who enjoys making helpful resources and testing new processes as they're developed for different audiences. She is a go-to person for assistance for all at the College, no matter their role, even if it just means listening and connecting them to the right person/place.
A Pensacola native and PJC Journalism alumni, she has published nearly 200 articles with Pensacola News Journal, Inweekly, and Natural Awakenings magazine. She has a Master's in English and a focus on Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University. She enjoys gardening, reading on her balcony with her 3 cats, nature walks with her new puppy, the Gulf of Mexico, bowling, and playing cards with her husband, Rudy.
